BRRRRRR---Baby its' cold outside

Hi All:

We are now 'official' Texans have Drivers Licenses and Voter Registration applied for and awaiting them to arrive in the mail. We left on Wednesday morning from Livingston and stopped at "Camp Wal-mart "--Atlanta, Tex. We then stopped at Ft.Smith, Ark. for our Thanksgiving Buffet at Golden Corral very ummmy ,but the crowd was tremendous. Then we stopped just inside the Mo.- Ark. line at a neat RV camp ground and river float company ( name to follow in a future post) We then drove into Iowa just before dark and stopped at Osceola for the night. On Saturday we surprised Rich (Judy's son) by knocking on his door when he thought we were still in Texas. Rich joined us for our journey unto Marengo where we have set up our Iowa base until Dec.31st UNLESS BAD WEATHER OR TALK OF BAD WEATHER FORCES US TO HEAD SOUTH.
Judy has Dr's appointments scheduled ,, Dentist on Monday at Belle Plaine. Eye Doctor in Iowa City on Wednesday. Then our family Dr. in Marengo the following Wednesday... Please pray that these all go well and the problems answered will be what she needs to have a better day each day.

We were in our home church at Belle Plaine for the early worship hour and was pleasantly delighted too be a part of a Large congregation for worship. We visit briefly with a few of our friends and exchanged several hugs, smiles and warm greetings.

I could go on and on about our trip so far but it is cold and thinking I will craw into our warm bed.

here our a couple of Picture of us working Selma.

HERE WE ARE AT "HOME"---TEXAS THAT IS

Howdy partners:

Well we have finally made it to our Texas address, and Rainbow drive in the Escapes RV park is really really nice. Today we tried to be come "legal" Texans but ran into a snare,,, seams that the RV dealership in Orlando didn't send along the proper paperwork to get the Endeavor registered with. So we are an overnight letter from them to Tax office with ALL the right information. Then we go get our TEXAS drivers licenses. We hope to have this all wrapped up by 1p.m. so we can get on the road to IOWA for the Holidays.. Hopefully we can be in southern Iowa by Friday afternoon.!!!!please pray for good driving conditions for us as we travel and the month + that we will be in IOWA..

The work at Selma finished up last Thursday, as everything was finished up as was planned... The contacts were really well pleased with all of the hard work and labors of our whole team.

Then we headed for Sulphur, La. to visit Johns' brother Don. We spent Friday night near Picayune, Ms.. still lots of evidence of 'KATRINA' around. Then Saturday we had to detour off of I-10 because of the gas line explosion near the interstate. Se we chose to go past SAGER-BROWN AND UMCOR DEPOT at Baldwin, La... terrible roads -bad choice ..then when we arrived in Sulphur it was dark and rainy so we couldn't find our way around too well. So we decided to find a camp ground,,HIDDEN PONDS (4 paw prints on the TRAVELING CATS rating chart) we finally visit with Don on Sunday morning during the drizzling rain. Finally around 11:30 a.m. we departed on the trip from . NO MORE TOURING IN LA ON I-10 at least.

We are really anxious to touch IOWA soil again so please keep the weather descent there for our stay.. we have not finalized all of our plans at this time for our days there, but we hope we can at least see all of you for a short time to share stories and pictures with you and catch up on ALL of your news!!!

May you all have a THANKFUL HOLIDAY and please drive safely and don't overeat .

May Gods Great Blessings Continue to Find each and everyone of You.

WORK IN SELMA WRAPPING UP TOO QUICKLY

GREETINGS:

The painting is continuing along fine. Last week we finished the dining room in one of the cottages ,along with getting a good start on a bedroom there. Over in the other cottage the ceilings are all done in 2 bedrooms and the bathroom, ceiling man JOHN rolled all the ceilings. Judy spent most of her week running a power sander in the built-in closets and drawers. Then she primed them and started putting the final coats on..

Gary W. and Roger W. finished laying out and painting a LABYRINTH on an old outdoor basketball court. They also repaired the handicap ramps and railings going into the Chapel and the cottages.

ON Friday the GROUP toured the Voting rights museum and the Civil war and slavery museum,, we found them very well done. Then we had lunch at 1 of the BEST 100 EATING PLACES IN ALABAMA. We also toured the local cemetery where they had quite a few of unknown soldiers graves (BOTH SIDES). Also there is a former Vice President buried here. Along with several Confederate Officers.

Saturday, found us taking a sleep-in day (well deserved) then Judy and I traveled to Montgomery and got a new cell phone battery , maybe now we won't be dropping or missing our calls, as often. On the way back to Selma we stopped at the Interpret Center at the site of 'THE TENT CITY', which was established after the Selma to Montgomery March, because the land lords forced some of the black share croppers and workers who had shown support towards the marchers, off of their land. WE FOUND THIS TO BE THE BEST OVERALL ACCOUNT OF WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE,DURING AND AFTER the MARCH.

As of now our plans call for us to go to Livingston, Tx and get "official" and on the way stopping by John's brother, Don, in Sulphur, La. for the over night. Then after all the legal matters are taken care of, in Texas, we are probably headed to Iowa for an extended Winter Holidays. plans are still in the formation process, as soon as they are semi set I'll post them.

The TRAVELING CATS are adjusting really well to the motorhome, except Pebbles thinks she needs to spend lots of time outside alone so she can snoop around. The pecans are beginning to really drop and we have been invited to help ourselves too all we want.... sounds like a lot of shelling ahead for someone and it isn't John. LOL

We wish GODS blessings and guidance to each and everyone of you!!!!!

SELMA-WEEK 1 DOWN: 2 TO GO

Greetings from the SOUTHLAND:

We all (Judy, myself and the TRAVELING CATS ) are all adjusting to Motorhome life really good. We just can't locate everything yet, as we need it. The projects here at the Methodist Children's home are progressing along smoothly. We are sanding, then priming interior walls in 2 of the cottages. We have already completed a foyer, huge living room, and have a bedroom and bath sanded and primed along with a dining room.

We had Church services today along with the Children in their on campus Chapel, the campus setting is just beautiful. There are 2 dozen buildings in the complex surround with and rustic iron fence. The grounds have numerous types of trees, but best of all, are the PECANS (which are just falling, and we fill our pockets as we cross the grounds.

On Friday the NOMADS toured some of the historic churches and museums here in Selma, Judy and I are going to do more later today of the things that interest us most. On Saturday we went to an old grist mill for a barn raising and bluegrass festival.. was ok but after the ones we were at in Virginia and North Carolina, it just didn't compare.

It looks like that we may cancel the Moss Point stop and head back to IOWA after we get our legal work finished in TEXAS, during Thanksgiving weekend... STAY TUNED FOR MORE LATER

GODS BLESSINGS THE LONGS-ON THE ROAD AND THEIR TRAVELING CATS.
