Meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Meow, meow, meowwwwwwwwww!

We finally found dad's new hiding place for this computer ( out in plain sight ). So Pebbles says we should catch everyone up on our lives as 'TEXAN CATS' . We really enjoy being in Texas since mid December, as we understand from the folks phone calls back to IOWA just how fortunately we are NOT to be there, in all of that cold white stuff. We enjoyed our stay at RAINBOWS END campground in Livingston, where Charlie and Maryanne took really good care of us, while the folks ventured back to IOWA for the Holidays.

Pebbles and I are adjusting to living in our huge motocasa. We just love jumping off of the bed in the back and dashing the length of the coach and jump into the dash window and then doing that allover again, (Dad almost dies laughing so hard at us).

While we were in Rio Grande City, Pebbles received some more outside privileges and she just really enjoyed those long walks through our quiet neighbors yard, although she did wonder why those large rocks had writing on them and were surrounded by flowers. Mom and Dad seamed to really like the work that their NOMAD Team accomplished there.

We all have moved further southeast down to PHARR , Texas . It is my understanding that we will be here for 3 weeks....

OOOOO yea we did have a little excitement on the way down here. It seams that the trailer, the little red car rides on, developed some sort of abnormally ,, Dad says he thinks a wheel bearing came out.
Mom seams to be having some better days again and we haven't heard the folks talking to anyone else with pray concerns... BUT DO REMEMBER ALL OF THE NOMADS PROJECTS AS THEY BEGIN PERIOD 2.
We are getting off now as we expect the folks to get in from their visit over to BIBLEVILLE. and we don't want Dad to find another hiding place for this computer.

As Dad and Mom would close

WE WISH GODS BLESSINGS AND GUIDANCE OVER ALL OF YOU

WEATHER IS NICE !!!! WISH YOU WERE HERE

OLA!!!(Hello in Spanish)

The 6 couples NOMAD TEAM has really been working hard the last 2 weeks. The part of the team, that Judy and John are on spent the majority of the week working inside of our HOST Church ST. Johns U.M.C.- Rio Grande City. Judy spent the early part of the week sanding bench seat boards, that sit in the court yard leading into the front foyer of the Church. She then helped re varnished them.. John's assignment was to remove and replace ALL of the broken or rotting baseboard moldings through out the complex.

We(the team) had a great trolley ride tour of RIO GRANDE CITY last Sunday,,, and then we had 2 week day nights where we gathered to play games. Our Church Hosts THE JOHN SHUFORDS treated us all to a Delicious Home Made Hot Tamale supper on Wednesday. Then on Sunday the church held a carry in dinner for all to partake of... (do I hear the word diet in our conversions----you bet)

We have had a few work related casualties here, Sue Hill, sprain ankle, Bill Mitchell slightly cut thumb in 'chop saw',,, both are getting along much better today. Judy has slowed down to where things are manageable for her to handle each day,,, We do need to remember Rich on Wednesday as he has a staffing to determine his goals over the next 6 months,,, Andy is completing another class in college and is doing OK ( he says) Johns kids are having some turmoil there as Samantha is creating some tense moments and Valerie has completed High School ( WELL DONE VAL) and has moved in with a cousin to be closer to her work. Davi is being ALL BOY and trying his best to see how much he can get-a-way with...we need to remember that ALL OF THE NOMADS TEAMS will be heading to new work assignments over this week-end. WE WILL BE GOING DOWN TO PHARR, TEXAS. only about 55 miles and in the middle of the Winter Texans RV resorts.

At the bottom of this page you can see a new attempt at posting some pictures....LOL

Greetings from the near the Mexican Border:

We arrived in Rio Grande City after ONLY 1 wrong turn and 1 missed turn, which isn't bad for an 'old fellow' ( he-he-he). We are being hosted by ST. JOHN'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, with our Coordinator being Mrs. Helen Shuford. Our fellow NOMAD team consist of John and Maetta Craig, Indiana. Paul and Shirley Hope, Ottumwa, Iowa. Tom and Sue Hill, Ohio. Dale and Donna Sutton, Vinton, Iowa. Bill and Caroline Mitchell, Mississippi. and us (Judy and John Long , full timers RVers formally of Belle Plaine, Iowa.) encase you had forgotten us.

For our 1st week projects we divided into 2 teams, one here in RGC working on a home of an elderly woman whose house was in very very poor condition. We had to first determine where the leak was originating at in the bathroom, she thought it was from the shower stall drain. Wrong John discovered that she was leaving the shower curtain out and that the shower head was directed towards the curtain, Simple solution placed curtain inside of shower stall and re-aim the shower head to the back of stall. John then saw that the stool was very wobbly and possibly leaking ,,, pulled the stool and found that the collar had a break and allowing the holding bolts to not hold replaced with lug bolts into the wood sub flooring, put in new wax seal and then put old tank on... still had water on floor :( so upon further investigation, John discovered a crack in the holding tank--John went and got a replacement and installed.... NO LEAKS ANYWHERE,,,,,

While John worked in bathroom, Bill and Paul started to take out the old steps and replaced them with wider and lower risers, 2 sets, 1 front and 1 on side. Shirley, Caroline, and Judy worked on taking out the deteriorated screen windows and replaced with permanent screening on the outside.

John and Judy removed damaged drywall on day 1, then on day 2 Shirley and John started to fill holes and replaced the sections that were removed.
Caroline and Judy continued on the screening. While Bill and Paul continued with the steps.

The other 3 couples are working over in Parma(sp) working on houses that had been flooded.

On day 3 Judy varnished 3 doors while every one else was working on their projects. Then on day 4 John actually was up on the roof (YES again he was relaying on GOD, to get him through that project safely and sanely.) John attached flashing from the house roof unto the carport roof with sheet metal screws and then put a bead of silicone down the new seam and over screws. Shirley textured the ceiling and then primed and painted the bathroom.

As for the FUN TIME we have had 2 evenings of games (we learned a new card game called STICKS FUN FUN FUN) On Sat. we went 55 miles away to a RV show and then to The Holiday Rambler Dealer to get some much needed minor parts for the ENDEAVOR . On the way home John missed the entrance to the freeway which was costly JUDY spied a BEAD STORE 2hrs later but not really that expense we were on our way home.

Pebbles and Bamm Bamm are enjoying the nice warm days and the pleasant weather. They think that they rule the MH (motocasa, in Spanish).

As far as Prayer request we are still seeking Gods watchful eye over our team as we work and travel and the OTHER NOMAD TEAMS
Please continue to remember Terri and her family
Sue Hill (1 of our Nomad team members here) --- she sprained her ankle after her arrival here.
Johns kids need some prayer--- as things are not going smoothly at this time in their situation.
Judy's pain is still very troublesome at times ---especially when she overdoses her day.
Rich and Andy as they get through their days -- with out the physical in state presence of Judy.
And we ask that GOD take care of each of you and BLESS you and YOURS.

Until next post ( and yes I know that I have already broken my Resolution)
Pebbles, Bamm Bamm send loving meowssss
Along with Judy and John's warm wishes.

2008 AND EXCITED WITH THE PURPOSED AGENDA AHEAD OF US

Hello All:

We hope that your beginning days of 2008 are off and running smooth! We spent News Years Eve and New Years Day at our ' Home Park' RAINBOWS END ( an Escapees RV Park) in Livingston, Texas. We enjoyed playing cards with a fellow NOMAD couple, George and Terry Lair, who were there,in route to their period 1 assignment in Southern Texas. Also played with some full time residents of Rainbows End,, The Butz. We all had a great time.

On Wednesday the 2nd we came on down to DAD'S RV PARK (which has a 5 cats paws rating form the Traveling cats) in Victoria, Texas. As we passed through Houston we saw the Home of the Houston Astro's. We managed the traffic and roads really good.

Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm were very sad to leave their new friends, Mary Anne and Charlie Head,, who were so kind to make sure that the TRAVELING CATS behaved themselves and didn't starve or miss their treats while MOM and DAD were off in IOWA enjoying themselves.

On Thurs Judy and I traveled over to PORT LAVACA on the Gulf Coast... it sure was a different view of the Gulf then what we had experienced in Mississippi in early '07. On the way we went pass a HUGH ALCOA plant which reminded us of IOWA a little. lol.

On Friday we have plans to visit San Antonio ( THE ALAMO and THE RiverWalk shops for sure) then if time permits we will attempt to find the outlet mall, that we were told about tonight as we were playing Dominoes with the SNOWBIRDS here at DADS,, 2 couples from IOWA and a couple from Missouri.

Please join us in PRAYING for travels and that THE LORD will guide us in what we will be doing when we arrive in RIO GRANDE, Tex. on Sat through Jan.24th then on to PHARR, TX, for the next 3 weeks.

We also ask that you all remember our friend Terri who is having to help her Grandmother, who recently lost her husband during the Holidays. If any of you have any special prayer request just pass them on and we will add it to our prayer chains and include them in our posts.

Johns New Year Resolution was to try to post on here at least every 3 days and try to add more current pictures of some of the exciting projects and sights as we see and do them;

May you all have a BLESSED 2008 from GODS GRACE.
